Grand Teton National Park

There’s a reason people fly across the country just to see this skyline. From our Swan Valley home, Grand Teton National Park is an easy morning drive over Teton Pass or up Highway 26 — and it’s one of the most dramatic landscapes in the Lower 48. Jenny Lake, Oxbow Bend, and the Snake River Overlook are all classic stops, and if you’re up early, dawn light on the peaks is worth setting an alarm for. Expect moose and elk sightings along the river bottoms, especially at dusk, and pull-offs where you can just sit and take it in. Hiking ranges from easy lakeside strolls to full-day treks — Taggart Lake is a great half-day option for most guests. Bring layers; weather turns quickly at elevation even in summer. Best time to visit is June through September for full access, though shoulder season (May, October) means fewer crowds and still-stunning color. Pack a picnic, fill up on gas before you head out, and plan a full day. This is the kind of place you’ll want unhurried time in — exactly why we build extra days into most guests’ itineraries. Check availability at our Idaho riverfront home to make this the centerpiece of your trip.
